Trashed!
I see the first Amazon.com review for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET: THE DREAM DEALERS has come in, and though the reviewer does not know how to spell (”softwear compant”?), he sure knows a bad book when he sees one. Sigh. You know, it takes a lot of hard work to build one of them big old Egyptian pyramids. But it only takes one guy to sniff and point and say, “It should’ve been built a foot more to the right.” It gives noncreative people a power even greater than that of creative people. An ultimate, God-like power. The thumb’s up or down that decides the fate of the guy who’s fighting for his life down in the arena. Can you tell I’m not happy? My first mass market book, man; I want it to do well, because it’s been a loooong time coming. Now people will see two stars at Amazon and the title of the review (”Come on guys, you can do better”) and some of them will be discouraged from buying it. GRRR! Well, I can only hope more favorable reviews will come in to balance out this dismal situation.
In case I haven’t pointed it out before (my insufficiently skilled writer’s brain gets muddled), there was a vastly different review of the book posted at bookgasm.com (see below) and also at louisfowler.com which made me VERY happy!

“Stoker Award nominee Thomas has written a great read, one that, while using familiar characters, works so well on its own that would be an incredible way to bring the franchise back to life if it ever hit the silver screen…If you ever needed a reason to get started with these books, THE DREAM DEALERS is it. The only question now is will Black Flame be able to top it?”
Speaking of HAPPY news, this week I emailed a mass market publisher a synopsis and sample chapter for a proposed novel, and today the editor told me that he and his associates LOVE it. They’re quite excited, and that makes me as excited as I can be, suffering from a bad cold. I’ll announce the book’s acceptance when they’ve formally announced it themselves, though I do think it’s safe to say I’m in with this one (I feel safe enough to proceed with the writing of it). Hey, my finished books may be lacking, but I sure know how to tease about the ones I haven’t written yet!
Keep trudging forward, people…despite the naysayers who sit in their arm chairs throwing stones.
